Questions
Frequently asked.
Is the free tier actually free forever?
Yes. No credit card, no time limit, no nag screens. The free tier has real limits — 10 bills and 1 income source — but the core safe-to-spend number works completely. We want you to trust the product before you pay for it.
How long is the free trial on paid plans?
Trial length is based on your pay cycle, not an arbitrary number of days. If you get paid weekly, you get two full pay cycles (~14 days). Biweekly earns ~28 days. Monthly earners get up to 45 days. The trial starts when you see your first safe-to-spend number — not when you download.
Do I need a credit card to start the trial?
No. Start with just an email and password. We only ask for payment when your trial ends.
What happens if I cancel?
Cancel from Settings at any time. Your account drops to the free tier — your data stays intact. If you were on a paid plan, you keep paid access until the end of your billing period.
Does Threshold connect to my bank automatically?
Bank sync via Plaid is available on Threshold and Family plans. It's read-only — Threshold never moves money, only reads transactions. You can also use Threshold entirely manually and the core value still works.
What is the Partner shared view link?
On the Threshold plan, you can share a read-only link with a partner so they can see your safe-to-spend number and upcoming bills — and log transactions — without their own full account. It keeps the household in sync without requiring two paid subscriptions.
What is the Threshold Family plan for?
Family is for households where both people want full accounts — full visibility, full logging, purchase approval notifications, per-person spending breakdowns, and shared sinking funds. Roommates, co-parents, and multi-generational households are all fair game.
Is my financial data secure?
Threshold stores data in encrypted Supabase (Postgres) with row-level security — each user can only ever see their own records. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plaintext. Bank sync is read-only via Plaid.
